An application is the relationship between a candidate and a particular job. It records that person's consideration for that requirement, keeping job-specific progress separate from the candidate's identity and from the job itself.
Why it matters
A fictional nurse might be in screening for one hospital job while waiting for a client response on another. Those are separate application contexts. Moving one application should reflect an event in that process, not an assumption about every role the person could consider.
The current pipeline stage helps the team understand where the application stands. Read the relevant job and timeline before changing it. A candidate record alone cannot establish which screening, submission, interview, or offer events occurred for a specific requirement.
At a handoff
